In December of 1946, Allen's Fireworks Company was started by Norman and Viola Allen. The business began seasonally, operating out of a concession stand along the highway. In 1959, the Allen's purchased land on 41-A and built a building for the business. Along with fireworks, the Allen's sold souvenirs. Local customers could only buy fireworks seasonally, while out-of-state customers could purchase fireworks all year. In 1973, Mr. Allen was in a plane crash. Mrs. Allen continued to operate the business with the help of friends and family. A year later Mrs. Allen decided to sell Allen's Fireworks Company to James and Beatrice Grant. Continuing the tradition of the business, the Grant's kept the name Allen's Fireworks Company. When Mr. Grant passed away in 1987, Mrs. Grant sold the business to her son and his wife, Jimmy and Cathy Grant. Allen's Fireworks continues to operate with the same traditions as in the beginning -- commitment to our customers!
